RoboForm can optionally fill in the credentials without immediately logging in. When you return to a Web page for which the software has saved account information, you can log in by clicking the DigitalPersona icon and choosing "Fill-in account data." DigitalPersona enters the account credentials and logs you in. On the plus side, DigitalPersona can handle oddball log-in screens that might confuse the others, because it allows you to save data for any field, not just the more common username and password fields. These other products simply watch you log in the normal way and then offer to save the credentials you entered. It's not quite as simple a process as that used by RoboForm Pro, 1-Click SignupShield, or the Identity Safe feature in Norton Internet Security 2009. You click the icon, choose "Add New Account," and enter your username and password.

When DigitalPersona detects a Web page or other password entry dialog that it can manage, it tags the top left-hand corner of the window with an icon. And on Vista systems, an Administrator's fingerprint can answer those annoying User Account Control prompts.- Next: Password Management A fingerprint overlay appears on the icon for any registered user those users need only touch the reader to log on. The software integrates very nicely with the Windows log-on screen. On a multiuser system, each user must log on to Windows and go through the registration process. It's definitely easier to use than a swipe-style reader. Technically it requires four successful scans, but with this device I didn't have any unsuccessful scans. Registration is simply a matter of touching the device four times with the specified finger.

One is not enough-you might hit that finger with a hammer! The company recommends registering at least two fingers. The reader's weight and a high-friction bottom pad help it sit solidly on your desk, so it doesn't skid around when you touch it.Īs soon as the DigitalPersona software is installed, it prompts you to register your fingerprints.

The U.are.U 4500 fingerprint reader included with the full package is a touch-style reader, meaning you simply touch its panel rather than swiping your finger across.
DIGITALPERSONA PERSONAL DRIVER
Reinstalled the driver for Biometrics according to Dell Support website Uninstalled DigitalPersona completely and reinstalled it He may have deleted certain items in the Device Manager (without telling me what he was doing or why, which annoyed me seeing how the DigitalPersona started to not work after). But after testing to see if it was something with the driver, the DigitalPersona stopped working (at least that is around the time it seemed to stop working). The problem turned out to be a hardware issue so they sent someone over to replace it and it worked fine.
DIGITALPERSONA PERSONAL DRIVERS
The problem began when a Dell Technician did a Dell Connect and played around with drivers while trying to fix a problem I was having with my webcam.
DIGITALPERSONA PERSONAL 64 BIT
I believe it is a 64 bit operating system (at least that's what it claims under My Computer properties).

If it helps I have a Dell Studio 17 that came with Windows Vista, but I upgraded to Windows 7 (DigitalPersona still worked after this). Not a big deal, but if I paid for the service I'd like to actually use it. Biometrics works and I can log into Windows with my fingerprint, but DigitalPersona won't work, which means I can't use my fingerprint to log into websites. If anyone can please help me with this I'd appreciate it. I have read many other forums and message boards, contacted Dell, and other ways to remedy this and all have been unhelpful.
